Please see the information below that has been sent to us to share with our members, regarding a double-blind controlled trial of a new topical treatment for mild-moderate alopecia areata that has recently started in the UK. The trial is sponsored by a UK pharma company (Manentia).

Members of The Institute of Trichologists have been invited to refer patients they may have that meet this criteria, which is a great opportunity for our Members to take part in a trial of this nature.

A clinical trial to test a new topical treatment for alopecia areata

A new clinical trial is now recruiting patients for a new treatment for ‘patchy’ Alopecia Areata. As you know, there are currently no approved treatments for this indication, which is causing a huge number of patients to go untreated.

Soterios Pharma has developed a new, once-a-day, topical treatment that they are seeking to demonstrate efficacy in a Phase II clinical trial.

If you know of any patients that would benefit from this treatment and would like to refer them to 1 of the 10 nationwide clinics set up to run this trial, please email info@soteriospharma.com.

The trial is seeking individuals, aged 18 and over, with mild to moderate patchy Alopecia Areata with a SALT score <50% (NOT Alopecia Totalis or Alopecia Universalis) to take part.
